COLORADO IMAGES AND STORIES

Digital photo shows and narratives by author Niki Hayden:

Colorado’s Secret Gardens: Private gardens never opened to the public with fascinating stories--each of these gardens opens a new world to gardeners. A child’s secret garden, gardens of romantic old-fashioned roses, a Victorian French garden, prairie gardens and native plants--our gardens create serene landscapes that renew and refresh the soul.

One Hundred Years of Colorado Antiques and Historic Homes: Antiques are objects that allow us to catch a glimpse of past eras. Whether it’s the cowboy mystique or English silver, Colorado is home to fascinating characters and historical tidbits revealed through the homes and artifacts left behind. We’ll take a journey than uncovers personalities and places, from the mining towns to the prairie farms, to bring some of those decades to life.

Twelve Months of Colorado: This trip is for the armchair traveler who yearns to visit all of Colorado through a year of seasons. Mountain wildflowers in the summer, prairie vistas in autumn, winter twilight in the foothills and spring sojourns in the desert. Places, people and wildlife are woven together with stories culled from off-the-beaten-track.

Wild Gardens: Colorado is filled with microclimates from lush, fern-filled riverbanks to arid canyons. We’ll visit unique gardens that only nature designed. Blue columbines the size of teacups, misty canyons, acres of sunflowers, waterfalls, alpine natural rock gardens and more. The wild gardens in our state are spectacular and a never-ending source of ideas for our own home gardens.

A Grandmother’s Garden: Heirloom gardens and plants that have been in Colorado for at least 100 years can form the backbone of vigorous selections. This show includes historic gardens in Colorado as well as many of the choices our grandparents planted long ago. Old garden roses, bearded irises, lilacs, peonies and grapevines survive today, even when attended infrequently. Cottage gardeners and those who love the history of plants are drawn to these timeless beauties.

All shows are about 60 minutes, the author brings power point equipment, only a screen need be provided. Call 303-499-8551 for more information, or e-mail: editor@frontrangeliving.com.
